Objective: SWBAT........
This week, students conclude Number Worlds, Level E, Addition. Students will use variables to represent the unknown in one- and two-step addition problems and solve for the variables using subtraction.

  • Students can solve for geometric shapes used as variables in equations.

3.OA.8 Solve two-step word problems using the four operations. Represent these problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity. Assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies including rounding.

Vocabulary:
  • Addition
  • Double Fact
  • Near Double Fact
  • Nice Numbers
  • Grouping
  • Regrouping
  • Partial Sum
  • Carrying
